We were very touched and honored when Katherine, the fabulous mother of the groom, reached out to us to help Tjiska and Mark plan their wedding. The couple resided on the east coast plus both were extremely busy with doctorate studies; needless to say, they had very little time to dedicate to planning of their special day. We were nearly ready with all the plans and were putting on final touches on the details as the COVID-19 pandemic hit and the couple had to be postpone their celebration. While postponement of such special occasion can be devastating, Tjiska and Mark were optimistic and were very flexible with change of plans. "We've been together for 10 years, what's waiting another year for us?" They wanted a celebration that included all their near and dear family and friends, and if it meant that they had to push their plans to the next year to ensure safety and comfort of all their guests, then that is what they had to do. Fast forward a year later, Mark and Tjiska were nearly done with their studies considering their options for residency and putting final touches on their wedding plans. And their wedding day was beyond perfect! Tjiska and Mark got ready at an amazing remote rental property with sweeping view of the valley and so spacious that while they were both in the same house, Mark and Tjiska managed not to sneak peeks at each other until their First Look at the Palms. The guest arrived for the ceremony that took place under a wooden arch adorned by flowers. The couple incorporated several traditional Jewish elements into the wedding - such as seven blessings and smashing of the glass at their ceremony and breaking of the Challah bread, Hora and the Chair Dance at their reception. Tjiska also surprised Mark and his family with black and red caviar station and ice cold vodka shots at the cocktails as a tribute to their heritage. Tjiska and Mark's day was filled with love, warmest well wishes, tears of joy, dancing and just overall all a great time! Congratulations, Tjiska and Mark! May you always have love and support of your family and friends, may your family blossom and your love for each other grow stronger with each day!
